Health and safety
All our tree work operations are undertaken in strict compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all associated legislation. All tree works are undertaken according to British Standard 3998 tree works recommendations.
All staff at Steel and Maw Tree Experts are deemed competent and qualified to carry out all individual tasks requested of them. Insurance documents and qualifications are always made available on request.
We always perform either a verbal risk assessment or, where necessary, provide a more in-depth written risk assessment and method statement prior to undertaking any work.
Working safely at height
Often tree pruning or removal in urban and woodland environments involves climbing and working at height, either in restricted spaces or in open areas with access platforms. Our experienced tree care specialists take all the necessary measures to avoid risks, ensuring trees are rigged appropriately, dismantling branches or stems in sections and, where necessary, using specialist lowering equipment to safely bring timber to ground level. If we are working near or over a highway, we will use correct signage and implement traffic management schemes, as required.
